Vincent Sai, Vice President and Managing Director
Mr. Sai is Vice President and Managing Director of Aetna UK. He is accountable for the management of our London-based operations, with particular emphasis on delivering commissioning services.
Recently, Mr. Sai was Head of Provider Financial Solutions within Network & Provider Services. He was accountable for strategy and effective implementation of innovative payment solutions to address emerging concerns on patient billing and collections.
While at Aetna, Mr. Sai has also served the role of Head of strategy, planning and business execution in Health-related Financial Solutions, a product business unit focused on developing consumer oriented health-financial offerings. He has also served the role of Senior Project Director in the Office of the President of Aetna and was responsible for supporting enterprise wide strategic projects that include new product launch initiatives, assessment of emerging market trends, and key growth opportunities for the company.
Prior to joining Aetna, Mr. Sai was with Deloitte Consulting where he served private and public sector clients from across the globe on issues including but not limited to strategy development, outsourcing implementation, shared services implementation, large scale project / program management and management reporting.
He holds both Honors and Masters Degrees in Accounting and Finance from the University of Western Australia. Mr. Sai also has an Executive Certificate in Strategy and Innovation from the Sloan School of Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is also an associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
James Cowan, Health Analytics
Dr. Cowan is Senior Medical Director for Aetna UK and Head of Clinical Programmes and Operations in Aetna Health Analytics. He is responsible for analytic support for the design and operations of Aetna’s medical management and medical cost reduction programmes. Dr. Cowan is also responsible for designing and implementing methods to identify and prioritize members for management on Aetna’s evolving, rules-based medical management infrastructure.
Prior to joining Aetna in 2000, Dr. Cowan served for ten years as Chief of Medicine and Head of Quality Improvement in the St. Luke’s Hospital and Health System in south east Pennsylvania. In the last five years of this period, this five hospital system received national recognition for quality and efficiency of care in cardiac surgery, cardiology, and general medical care on numerous occasions.
Before that he has held various academic and practice positions with the University of Illinois and the Quillen College of Medicine in Tennessee.
Dr. Cowan has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Birmingham in England, Doctor of Medicine from Dalhousie University in Canada, and a Masters in Public Health from Columbia University in New York City. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
Rick Jeandell, Information Technology
Rick Jeandell is the Head of Information Technology for Aetna UK, where he has overall responsibility for managing the IT staff and all aspects of software development, architecture and solution delivery.
Mr. Jeandell joined Aetna in 2004 as Technical Solutions Manager where he was responsible for technology strategy, direction, management and support of business systems delivery for both the Medical Management and Provider business domains. He provided technical leadership across several initiatives including evaluation of Care Management software packages and the creation of the Medical Management Blueprint and the Medical Management Business Case. In 2006, Mr. Jeandell was selected as a member of Aetna’s Emerging Leaders program, an Aetna Information Systems management development program. Mr. Jeandell currently leads a team that designs and develops the technology solutions to improve operational efficiencies and automation across all functions of the organization.
Prior to joining Aetna, Mr. Jeandell was a Principal/Technical Expert with CSC Consulting where he served as technical architect for large customers across multiple industries, including utilities, pharmaceutical, consumer products and printing. While at CSC, Mr. Jeandell was a Technical Excellence Award Nominee in 2004 and 1996 and a Technical Excellence Award Finalist in 1997.
Mr. Jeandell holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Delaware.
Maiki Benedict, Marketing Communications
Maiki Benedict is the Director of Marketing Communications for Aetna UK, where she has overall responsibility for marketing communications and brand management.
Ms. Benedict joined Aetna in 2002 and also serves as head of marketing communications for Aetna Global Benefits, the company's expatriate division. In this role she has been instrumental in building the marketing department foundation. Today she leads a cross-functional team to develop and implement marketing communication strategies to build and reinforce the Aetna brand in the international marketplace.
With more than 10 years of international marketing experience, Ms. Benedict began her career in public relations in New York City, where she provided media, marketing communications and sponsorship consulting services to international corporations and nonprofit organizations. She went on to hold management roles in media and technology companies, overseeing international marketing communications and event strategies in several countries throughout Asia, Europe and the Americas. An ardent traveler, Ms. Benedict has also served short-term expatriate assignments in Canada and Australia. Ms Benedict received her bachelor's degree from Vassar College.
Greg Pastor, Strategy and Planning
Mr. Pastor is Director for Aetna UK where he has overall responsibility for strategy and planning.
Mr. Pastor previously served as a Director in Aetna’s National Provider Network organization. As Head of Network Structures, he and his team coordinated development of strategy, policy, and programme management of provider commissioning for US Government programmes (Medicare [over 65] and Medicaid [low income]) as well as overseeing Aetna’s provider performance initiatives such as pay for performance as well as Aetna’s Performance Network Designation (Aexcel®).
Mr. Pastor and his team oversaw the expansion of Performance Network Designation programmes from 3 to 35 metropolitan areas over a three year period. This effort also included the introduction of healthcare Transparency information to patients on the clinical effectiveness and efficiency of over 71,000 specialist physicians.
As Senior Financial Manager within Aetna’s enterprise strategic planning team, Mr. Pastor contributed to the development of Aetna’s enterprise positioning, as well as several new business growth opportunities.
Prior to his role in Strategic Planning, Mr. Pastor was the Manager of Medical Cost Analysis for one of Aetna’s operating regions overseeing 1,000,000 covered persons. Mr. Pastor and his team were responsible for planning, projection, and reporting of medical costs as well as identification, evaluation, and development of commissioning initiatives designed to improve medical cost and quality.
Previous roles with Aetna included Aetna Integrated Informatics, Medical Economics as well as NYLCare Healthplans and United Payers & United Providers. In 2003, Mr. Pastor was selected to Aetna’s Next Generation of Leaders, an Aetna management development program.
Mr. Pastor holds a Master of Public Policy from the College of William and Mary and Bachelor or Arts Degrees in Economics and Political Science from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Stefan Doroszkowski, Business Development
Mr. Doroszkowski is Director of Business Development for Aetna UK.
He has worked in healthcare management for the last 15 years, having worked in the London NHS for seven years in both purchasing & provision roles at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, and Lambeth Southwark and Lewisham Health Authority.
On leaving the NHS, Stefan joined the BUPA Group where he worked for a further seven years in various health care commissioning and service development roles for BUPA’s UK Membership business, before moving on to take up his role in 2003 as Head of Global Purchasing for BUPA International.
Mr. Doroszkowski holds a Masters in Health Administration, Westminster University (in addition to his BA in History, Hull University).
